Making a Difference: Girls Education Sponsorship Program

We're excited to share with you a recent adventure that truly touched our hearts. At the end of January, our Founder, Furaha Bishota, embarked on a meaningful journey to Dowa District, Malawi, where she visited There is Hope – a remarkable non-profit organisation dedicated to uplifting refugees and their host communities.

Established in 2007, There is Hope has been a beacon of light, providing crucial support in education, income generation, and spiritual well-being to those in need. In Malawi, access to education remains a significant challenge, especially for rural and underprivileged children. But amidst these obstacles, stories of hope and progress shine through.

Thanks to initiatives like There is Hope's secondary school scholarship program, young girls are defying the odds and pursuing higher education. And here's where we come in: at Cocolili, we're incredibly proud to be part of the girls education sponsorship program through the Cocolili Education Fund.

In 2024, we've committed to sponsoring five girls in local schools near the Dzaleka refugee camp. By investing in their education, we're not only providing academic opportunities but also empowering them with essential socio-emotional and life skills needed to thrive in a male-dominated labour market.
